If you love patterns, you'll love this dark burgundy variety of Calathea with its bright pink pinstripes and broad flat leaves. Like any Calathea, a little extra effort is needed for them.

PLANT CARE & INFO

Light levels: This plant is best kept in a position where it receives good levels of bright but indirect sunlight.

Watering: The best approach to watering Calatheas is little and often. While they shouldn’t be left to sit in water, they do prefer to be in soil which is constantly kept slightly moist. 

Temperature: The ornata prefers a warmer, humid environment where draughts aren’t present.

Feeding: Feed with a low dose of foliage fertiliser throughout the growing months.

Growth: Moderately paced grower. 

Toxicity: Generally, Calatheas aren’t considered as toxic but if the plant is ingested there could be some degree of reaction so it’s best to keep it away from children and pets.

Care: Wipe the leaves with a soft damp cloth to remove any dust which may accumulate. Can be prone to spider mite so it is best to check your plant regularly.
